Developing a fish biomonitoring program for northern Saskatchewan
MSc student Kate Prestie is critically evaluating whether fish can be useful bio-indicators in streams at the Prairie-Boreal interface. She has been sampling fishes by backpack electrofishing in the Beaver River watershed since 2016.
Her research is funded by ECCC's Environmental Damages Fund. Those interested in using her data to compare with other sites in the region can download an excel file here.
